Korea, the first Asian country that reached the agreement with a group of five countries in Central America, required them to implement the free trade agreement. Among the five countries, Nicaragua finished its internal procedure to implement the FTA.

Brazil secured new market openings for agricultural products in New Zealand and Turkey, expanding its international insertion. The agreements reflect the growing role of sanitary negotiation in the expansion of trade between Latin America and other regions, including the Asia-Pacific.
