On October 1, Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs Francisco Pérez Mackenna met with Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arif Havas Oegroseno and discussed various aspects of the bilateral relationship between Chile and Indonesia.
During the meeting, Minister Pérez Mackenna highlighted Indonesia as a key economic partner for Chile and noted that the bilateral relationship has deepened through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Both countries signed this agreement on December 14, 2017, and it entered into force on August 10, 2019.
Minister Pérez Mackenna also emphasized the importance of Chile’s participation in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). They also discussed the Valparaíso’s candidacy to host the Secretariat of the BBNJ Agreement, better known as the High Seas Treaty.
