On November 5, 2015, the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Chile and Thailand entered into force, becoming the fifth Agreement that Chile signed with an ASEAN member country.
This FTA covers various areas related to trade in goods and services, as well as cooperation between both countries. According to Chile’s Subsecretariat of International Economic Relations, around 90% of trade received preferential treatment from the moment the agreement took effect.
In addition, it includes an evolutionary clause that allows both countries to open negotiations for an agreement on investment matters.
