The Brazilian government reports that during the visit of the agriculture minister of Sarawak state, Malaysia to Brazil, the model of international sanitary certificate(ISC) was agreed upon to export Brazilian poultry and beef. In 2024, Brazil exported more than 30,000 tons of poultry and beef to Malaysia, totaling approximately USD 67 million. The state of Sarawak, with a population of about 2.5 million inhabitants, is located on an island separate from mainland Malaysia and has specific requirements for food imports. With the acceptance of international sanitary certificates for this state, the volume exported to Malaysia is expected to increase significantly in coming years.
With these new openings, Brazilian agribusiness reaches its 44th market opening in 2025, totaling 344 new business opportunities since the beginning of 2023. These advances are the result of the joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
