Taiwan Officially Grants Duty-Free Access to Paraguayan Pork

On June 6, 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Paraguay, José Han, formally delivered the official document establishing the complete elimination of tariffs on Paraguayan pork exported to the Taiwanese market. He also emphasized that Paraguay is the only country benefiting from zero tariffs on pork exports to Taiwan, describing the development as a result of strong bilateral cooperation.

For his part, the Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez, stated that Paraguay currently ranks third among pork-exporting countries to Taiwan. With this measure, it is expected to rise to first place in the near future, doubling the volume of exports to Taiwan.

According to data from the National Service for Animal Quality and Health (Senacsa), between January and May 2025, Paraguay exported 3,983 tons of pork to Taiwan, valued at approximately USD 12.7 million. This volume represented 81% of the Taiwanese market share in the pork and pork offal category.
