Chile consolidates a decade of trade expansion with China and reaches a record high in exports in 2025

In 2025, Chile’s exports of goods to China reached USD 38,962.26 million, consolidating a decade of extraordinary growth from the USD 16,597.46 million recorded ten years earlier. This dynamism has been driven primarily by shipments of minerals, slag, and ash.

On the goods import side, Chile purchased products from China totaling USD 23,818.86 million in 2025, with machinery, equipment, electrical equipment, and their parts being the main items. As a result, the trade balance closed the year with a surplus of USD 15,143.40 million in Chile’s favor.

These results reinforce not only last year’s performance but also China’s growing and structural importance as Chile’s main trading partner over the past decade.

The existence of agreements between Chile and China—including the Agreement on Trade in Goods, in effect since 2006, and its subsequent expansion—has been key to facilitating this bilateral strengthening, promoting a steady flow of goods and boosting economic exchange between the two nations.
