Asia-Pacific Strengthens Its Position as the Main Supplier of Manufactures and Technology for ALADI

Trade between the member countries of the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) and the Asia-Pacific region continues to reflect an economic relationship characterized by productive and technological complementarity. Between 2023 and 2025—with preliminary figures for the latest year—regional imports from the Asian bloc maintained a structure strongly oriented toward high value-added manufactured goods.

The Electronics and Electrical Machinery sector heavily leads the region’s external purchases, accounting for 28.59% of the total imported from the Asia-Pacific. This is compounded by the share of Industrial Machinery and Equipment, which reaches 16.82%, as well as Vehicles and Auto Parts, with 9.83%.

The import structure also highlights the relevance of other strategic industrial sectors, including Iron and Steel (3.54%) and Medical and Precision Instruments (2.46%), which are fundamental for the development of infrastructure, industrial capabilities, and healthcare systems across the region’s countries.

This trade pattern confirms the role of the Asia-Pacific as a key partner for the supply of technology, equipment, and advanced manufactures, within a scenario where productive transformation and the incorporation of innovation remain central challenges for Latin American economies.
