Paraguay Consolidates its Strategic Projection in Southeast Asia: Advancements in Technology, Investments, and Market Openings

The Government of the Republic of Paraguay, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented the balance of President Santiago Peña’s recent official tour of the Asia-Pacific. This mission, aimed at transforming traditional cooperation into a strategic alliance based on innovation and joint development, marks a paradigm shift in the country’s economic integration into high-technology and food security markets.

In the Philippines—a historic visit marking 63 years of diplomatic relations—the meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led to the signing of a visa exemption agreement for Paraguayan passports and the strengthening of cooperation between diplomatic academies. Furthermore, an alliance was finalized between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and REDIEX to attract investment flows in sectors such as logistics and renewable energies, exploring Paraguay’s potential as an expansion platform for food sector companies in the region.

Regarding the agenda carried out in Taiwan, the technical results highlight the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cybersecurity cooperation and the formalization of a project for the development of data center infrastructure in Paraguayan territory. The latter seeks to combine Paraguay’s clean and abundant energy matrix with Taiwan’s vanguard technological capacity, aiming to position the country as a regional hub for artificial intelligence.

In the commercial sphere, the official opening of the Taiwanese market for Paraguayan poultry meat was announced, strengthening animal protein exports, which are projected to reach USD 600 million by the year 2027. The record participation of nearly 50 national private sector companies in this delegation underscores Paraguay’s commitment to generating new business opportunities and highly technically complex investments within the Asia-Pacific axis.
