On February 10, 2026, Panama and Japan commemorate the ninth anniversary of the entry into force of the Agreement for the Exchange of Information in Tax Matters, which was signed on August 25, 2016.
The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between Panama and Japan through the exchange of tax information, contributing to the efficient management of taxes. It also seeks to prevent tax evasion and avoidance, while promoting transparency and compliance with the tax laws of both states.

Reaching 20 years of its entry into force,the agreement to avoid double taxation enhanced legal certainty, promoted investment and established mechanisms for the exchange of tax information between the two countries.
