Yang Jiechi extended congratulations to the Forum on behalf of the Chinese government.
He pointed out that consolidating and developing friendly cooperative relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries constitute an important part of China’s foreign relations.
China is willing to join the efforts with Latin America & Caribbean to implement the important consensus reached by the national leaders of both sides and to unceasingly push forward the comprehensive bilateral partnership of equality, mutual benefit and common development to a new level.
He wished the Forum to be a bridge connecting elites of the circles of thought in China and Latin America & Caribbean, to make greater contributions to promoting the development of China-Latin America & Caribbean relations in the new era.
Over 110 participants were for the Forum, including former ministers, former ambassadors, as well as experts and scholars of major think-tanks from China and 17 Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Envoys and commercial representatives from Latin America and Caribbean countries were also present at invitation.
