traits – the “other” is unpredictable.
Therefore new identities arise in new contexts of intercultural interactions.
The development of relations between China and the world, especially in Latin America, has fostered a significant increase in Sino-Latin American interactions not only in institutional contexts (such as work and study) but in media and in non-institutional contexts as well.
The challenge of this Seminar is trying to understand how people with different backgrounds (such as Chinese and Latin Americans) are dealing with all this changes in historical, social, humanistic perspectives.
Therefore, we invite scholars, post-graduate students, professionals in general interested in China-Latin American relations to submit papers for our Seminar.
It will be an interdisciplinary encounter that aims to share academic contributions from different fields of knowledge.
We welcome papers dealing with, for example:
o Historical contextualization of the Chinese diaspora
o Intercultural relations
o Social integration
o Languages
o Economic activities
o Cultural and educational issues.
This is an indicative list of topics.
Other ideas for papers on the conference theme are welcome.
Please send abstracts up to 300 words to Mr Mikey LAM: overseas.
