Virtual Lecture on Chinese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Latin America: Trends and Outlook for 2026

As part of the academic training and institutional update activities of the Master’s Program in Economics and Business with Asia-Pacific and India at the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF), the university will host the lecture titled “Chinese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Latin America – 2026.” The event features the participation of Dr. Enrique Dussel Peters, a distinguished scholar from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and coordinator of the Center for China-Mexico Studies (CECHIMEX).

The session will focus on the analysis of annual reports coordinated by Dr. Dussel Peters, which provide a detailed mapping of the dynamics of Chinese capital in the region. During the presentation, the speaker will address the actual magnitude of these investment flows, utilizing a specific sectoral approach to identify asymmetries between countries, recent operational complexities, and projections for the close of the 2026 cycle.

The objective of this activity is to provide institutional sectors, academics, and economic policymakers with a profound framework for understanding how Chinese FDI is reconfiguring biregional commercial relations. This conference serves as a key opportunity to debate the future prospects of this strategic relationship within a context of high global volatility.
