Peru and Thailand celebrate 14 years of their framework agreement on economic partnership

On December 31, 2025, Peru and Thailand mark the 14th anniversary of the entry into force of the Framework Agreement for an Economic Partnership, signed on October 17, 2003, and ratified on January 27, 2005, prior to its entry into force in 2011.

The agreement establishes objectives such as strengthening ties of friendship and developing an economic partnership, increasing trade and investment, promoting economic growth and development, and recognizing the contribution of APEC to trade liberalization and facilitation.

With regard to bilateral trade, exports increased from USD 66.8 million in 2015 to USD 115.4 million in 2024, representing a growth of 72.8%. By contrast, imports showed a slight downward trend, declining from USD 622.2 million to USD 551.6 million over the same period. Throughout the decade, trade flows recorded a deficit for Peru.
