Chile and China commemorate the 12th anniversary of the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

On February 4, 2026, Chile and Vietnam celebrate the 12th year of entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The agreement aims to promote trade liberalization and strengthen their international competitiveness through economic cooperation.

The treaty includes disciplines on trade in goods, rules of origin, customs administration, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, as well as provisions on cooperation and transparency, among others.

Regarding bilateral trade, following a trend of sustained growth up to 2021, a contraction was observed between 2022 and 2024. During this period, Chilean exports declined from USD 416.3 million in 2022 to USD 291.6 million in 2024, while imports decreased from USD 1.3 billion to USD 1.1 billion.
