Peru, Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)

On 19 September 2023 two years of the entry into force of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership for Peru was reached, which allowed to consolidate its trade relations with Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, and Vietnam. The agreement establishes regulations regarding trade in goods, services, trade facilitation, public procurement, competition policy, intellectual property, labor issues, environment, regulatory coherence, and cooperation in various areas. In 2022, Peru exported 8,727 billion dollars which represented 14.3% of the total of the exports of goods from Peru, and imported 7,327 billion dollars, equivalent to 12.1% of the total imports from Peru.
