Presidencial visit of Uruguay to China derived strategic agreements

On February 4, during the visit of Uruguay’s President Yamandú Orsi to China, the official delegation signed 20 agreements in Beijing with various national institutions.

The agreements signed during the visit aim to deepen cooperation between Uruguay and China in scientific research, technological innovation, and academic training. In this context, partnerships were promoted to advance knowledge development in key areas such as biotechnology and genomics, genetic improvement and food security, water resource management, pest control and agro-industrial health, as well as applications of artificial intelligence in the health sector.

Likewise, the agreements seek to strengthen academic and cultural exchange, student mobility, artistic cooperation, and the creation of joint laboratories, while promoting technology transfer and the exchange of scientific data, in line with strategic international cooperation initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative.
