Peru and Indonesia signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetour) of Peru informed that they have finalized the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Indonesia on 11th of August, 2025. Both countries have previously carried out 7 rounds of negotiations for the signing of the said agreement, 4 for the organization of chapters, and 3 for the actual finalization.

The agreement was signed by Desilú León, the minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, and Busi Santoso, the minister of Commerce, with the attendance of both heads of state.

The CEPA Peru-Indonesia is focused on reducing the tariffs on trade between the two countries. Once the agreement enters into force, 56% of the Peruvian products would be able to enter the Indonesian market with zero tariff.

In 2024, the exports of Peru to Indonesia reached approximately 191 million USD, while the total value of imports reached 507 million USD. During the year 2024, the exports were 210% greater than in 2023, mostly influenced by the increase in the export of agricultural products. Other than the products in the agricultural sector, some of the main products included: mineral fuels, nuclear reactors, boilers, and machinery.

On the other hand, similar to the previous year, the value of the imports from Indonesia to Peru was still greater than the exports, although the absolute value has been decreasing in the past 3 years. Among the main products, vehicles, footwear, and machinery showed a notable value.
