In 2025, it will be 22 years since the entry into force of the Agreement to Avoid Double Taxation and Prevent Tax Evasion, signed between Cuba and China. This agreement was signed on April 13, 2001, and came into effect on October 17, 2003.
Regarding bilateral trade between Cuba and China, according to the latest available figures, exports decreased from USD 456.6 million in 2018 to USD 175.5 million in 2022, a reduction of 61.6%. Meanwhile, the four products that represented more than 90% of shipments were: nickel, zinc, sugar, and fish.
Imports also decreased during the same period but remained larger than exports, from USD 1,544.4 million to USD 1,126 million.
