According to the Ministry of Trade, the goods traded with the Belt and Road countries reached 130 billion dollars in 2018, an inter-annual increase of 16,3 per cent, and that exceeded the growth rate of the total foreign trade of China the previous year.

Chile approves protocol in order to avoid double taxation in China
Currently, the Chilean international transport companies providing freights and passengers services to and from China are taxed in such country with IVA (Value-Added Tax). By means of the Amendatory Protocol to the Agreement between the Chilean Government and the Chinese Government, both countries seek to eliminate double taxation.
Second Round of Trade Negotiations Korea-Mercosur ends
The Second Round of Trade Negotiations between Mercosur and South Korea was finished. Mercosur expects that an agreement with South Korea will be a part of the gateway to export to Asia-Pacific region. Negotiations will be resumed in July and it is expected that the significant progress that has been made in almost all issues might lead to the closure of the negotiating process during 2020.
Undersecretary Valdivia heads Eighth Meeting of Political Consultations with Korea
The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Carolina Valdivia, headed the Eighth Meeting of the Mechanism of Political Consultations between Chile and Korea. The state of the bilateral relations and the negotiations for the expansion of the bilateral Free Trade Agreement were discussed. In addition, the work areas and the technical visits of Korean delegations to Chile were dealt with.
Taiwan reaffirms support for Honduras in agricultural production and education
The first lady of Honduras, Ana Garcia de Hernandez, held a meeting with the president of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-Wen, in which they emphasized the importance of strengthening the bilateral cooperation and the close relationship between both countries. They agreed on the importance of the projects of technical assistance with the support of Taiwan such as the reproduction of healthy potato seed. In addition, she reaffirmed the opening of Taiwanese market to various Honduran products including coffee. Also, she reaffirmed the ongoing financial cooperation such as the design of infrastructure master plan appropriate to the productive potential of agricultural schools.
Mercosur and Korea carry out the Second Round of Negotiations for Free Trade Agreement
The Second Round of Negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between Mercosur and Korea is held in Seoul, Korea from April 1 to 5. Mercosur and Korea share the interest in encouraging the bilateral liberalization as widely as possible for the trade of goods, services and investment. Although the actual trade between Mercosur and Korea doesn’t cover the relevant level, there exist an important potential to develop the commercial flow and the capacity for the insertion in global value chains.
The president of India visits Chile
The president of India, Ram Nath Kovind meets with the president of Chile, Sebastian Piñera. Both of them agreed on the need to deepen their political and economic relations. In addition, they agreed to encourage new issues on the cooperation agenda that strengthen the relations between both countries while emphasizing the importance of the extension of the bilateral preferential agreement that became effective in May, 2017 as a tool to encourage the bilateral trade.
The president of Panama on official visit in China
The president of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela Rodriguez, is on an official mission in China to promote the investment and the tourism in Panama from the Asian country. In Guangzhou, he met with the local authorities and executives of Chinese companies that accomplished the important infrastructure constructions in Panama.
