1. First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kyou-hyun visited Peru to mark the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the ROK and Peru this year. Vice Minister Kim held an event to donate a replica of the Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner of the Baekje Dynasty, a commemorative gift to celebrate the anniversary, to the Peruvian government at the Peruvian Foreign Ministry on October 18. The event was attended by about 200 people, including key political, economic and government figures, diplomatic corps and Koreans in Peru. Vice Minister Kim also exchanged commemorative stamps to mark the anniversary with Peru’s Deputy Foreign Minister Fernando Rojas.

This year’s theme – Australia-Latin America relations: How so we shape the future? – is an open invitation to engage in lively debate on the future vision of Australia-Latin America relations.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam met with Peruvian Foreign Minister Eda Rivas at the Torre Tagle Palace on 12 September 2013. Both Ministers reaffirmed the warm relations and explored new areas of cooperation between Peru and Singapore. They also endorsed the strong multilateral cooperation in APEC, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Global Governance Group (3G), and Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) between Peru and Singapore.

São Paulo, Brazil, 14 August 2013: The New Zealand Embassy in Brazil and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), an agency dedicated to promoting the country’s international trade, are bringing four New Zealand companies to the Expointer 2013 trade fair (24 August – 1 September, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). The companies are each well-known globally for their innovative methods in support of agriculture based upon more efficient animal feed production systems.

Relations between Latin America and Asia Pacific are on a good foot. While the commercial landscape is auspicious, economic and cultural ties are still certain shortcomings that prevent deep integration. That was one of the conclusions reached by the experts of academic seminar “Trade relations between Latin America and Asia Pacific: Challenges and Opportunities” organized by ECLAC in conjunction with the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) and the American Association of Integration (LAIA) on August 21, 2013. Since 2001 the Business Council has been proud to join forces with the Council on Australia Latin America Relations to host the annual Australia-Latin America Awards, a joint initiative that has over the years highlighted the success of a wide range of companies and individuals.

China-Mexico Entrepreneurs Conference is held in Mexico City by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the COMCE on June 5. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto attend the conference and make keynote speeches. CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei, President of the COMCE and entrepreneurs attend the conference.
